[TEST] Kolukkumalai Sunrise Jeep Safari
Leave your Munnar hotel while it's still dark for the open-jeep climb to Kolukkumalai, the world's highest tea estate at roughly 7,900ft. You reach the ridge as the sky turns, watching sunrise break over the Western Ghats with the Theni plains laid out below. After sunrise, a local guide walks you through working tea gardens as the first pickers begin their rows, then into the estate's 1930s factory, where leaves are still processed on original British-era rollers and withering troughs. The visit closes with a tasting of the estate's own orthodox tea. Warm layers are essential — the ridge sits at 8-12C at dawn even in summer.
